This year’s APSA conference theme is The Quest for Legitimacy. The concept of legitimacy is fundamental to many classic debates in political science. At the same time, legitimacy is core to numerous contemporary political issues. Salient debates — whether about representation, equality, voice, accountability, institutionalization, protest, revolutions, international norms, disputes, war — can all contain questions of legitimacy at their core.
Projects in the Welfare State Attitudes WSF research cluster address these questions by looking at how people’s current aspirations, ideas and assumptions will be important drivers of change and persistence and at the extent to which conflict and solidarity surround the new directions in welfare. Researchers from cluster projects 4Is and HEALTHDOX will present some of these findings at APSA 2017. See the list below to find out where to hear and meet our researchers!
For the second time, this year’s APSA will feature electronic, multimedia iPosters with interactive features such as the ability to zoom in on graphics and images, and include video and audio clips. Especially watch out for Scientific Programme Coordinator Ellen M. Immergut who will present the Welfare State Futures Programme in the poster session on European Politics and Society, September 1, 2:00 pm.
