The Icelandic Centre for Research (RANNÍS) is responsible for implementing the policy of the Council for Science and Technology Policy. It handles funds for research and development in all fields of science, including social science and humanities. RANNÃS also promotes public awareness of research and innovation, and co-ordinates international co-operation in science.
